CHARLOTTESVILLE The ITA Wilson Mideast Region Championships continued on Sunday with Dominic Inglot (London, England) reaching the tournament’s final. The event will conclude Monday at the Boyd Tinsley Courts at the Boar’s Head Sports Club.

Inglot, seeded No. 9, opened play Sunday with a 7-5, 6-7, 7-5 win over Guillermo Gomez of Georgia Tech in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, he topped No. 2 seed Martin Sayer of Radford 7-5, 6-2. He will play Albert Larregola of Virginia Tech in the final.

By reaching the final, Inglot has qualified for the ITA National Indoor Championships next month in Columbus, Ohio. He is the third Cavalier in the 32-player draw, joining Somdev Devvarman (Chennai, India) and Treat Huey (Alexandria, Va.), who had both already qualified by reaching the quarterfinals of the ITA All-American Championships.

In doubles, the Cavalier team of Sanam Singh (Chandigarh, India) and Michael Shabaz (Fairfax, Va.) lost in the regional final. In their first match of the day, the duo downed Cory Parr and Steven Forman of Wake Forest 9-7 in the semifinals. In the final, they lost 9-8 to North Carolina’s Taylor Fogelman and Chris Kearney.

The tournament concludes Monday with the singles final. Play begins at 10 a.m.
