COLUMBUS, Ohio Two Cavaliers advanced on the first day of play at the 2007 ITA National Indoor Championships Thursday at The Racquet Club of Columbus. Play at the event, which features the top players from the nation runs through Sunday.

In the morning, the top ranked team of Somdev Devvarman (Chennai, India) and Treat Huey (Alexandria, Va.) topped Daniel Vallverdu and Carl Sundberg of Miami 9-8 in the first round. They will play Andy Connelly and Ross Cunningham of Tulsa in the quarterfinals Friday.

In singles, top seeded Devvarman cruised to an opening round win over No. 88 ranked Andrei Daescu of Oklahoma, 6-3, 6-1. He will meet Michael James of Penn State in the round of 16 on Friday. Dominic Inglot (London, England) fell in his first round match, 6-1, 7-6 to Alex Clayton of Stanford. He will begin play in the consolation draw on Friday. Huey was forced to pull out of the singles draw, but will continue to play doubles.

The tournament will continue on Friday and concludes Sunday.
