COLUMBUS, Ohio The Virginia men’s tennis team completed play at the 2007 ITA National Indoor Championships by winning both the singles and doubles titles of the prestigious event. Somdev Devvarman (Chennai, India) won the singles title and the team of Devvarman and Treat Huey (Alexandria, Va.) won the doubles title.

Devvarman becomes just the fourth player in the 30-year history of the tournament to win both the singles and doubles title in the same season. He joins Erick Iskersky of Trinity (1979), Luke Jensen of USC (1987), and Pavel Kudmac of Oklahoma State (1998) to accomplish the feat.

In the singles final, top seeded and top ranked Devvarman defeated No. 9 ranked Ryan Rowe of Illinois 7-6, 6-2. The win was Devvarman’s first over a top ten ranked opponent this season as he concludes the fall with a 13-1 record.

The No. 1 seeded and ranked team of Devvarman and Huey took the doubles title with a 6-4, 6-4 win over No. 21 ranked Robert Farah and Kaes Van’t Hof of USC. The victory capped off an undefeated fall for the duo, who are 13-0 this season. The Cavalier team also becomes the third pair to win both the ITA All-America Championships and the ITA National Indoor Championships in the same season.

Dominic Inglot (London, England) completed his fall season by winning the consolation draw of the tournament. In the final, Inglot defeated No. 6 ranked Bryan Koniecko of Ohio State 6-1, 6-2. It was third win over a top ten opponent in the tournament for Inglot.
