Virginia Top Seed at ITA National Team Indoors

SEATTLE The draw for the 2008 ITA National Team Indoor Championships was announced Friday with Virginia receiving the No. 1 seed. The Cavaliers open play in the event against No. 16 seed Penn State Friday, February 15 at 11 a.m. (PT) at the Nordstrom Tennis Center.

Virginia is making its fourth consecutive appearance at the event. In 2005, the Cavaliers reached the final and last season reached the semifinals.

The 16-team tournament annually boasts the strongest field of any regular season tournament. This year’s field includes 13 of the top 20 teams in this week’s ITA rankings, including every team in the top 10.

The tournament, hosted this year by the University of Washington, will run from Feb. 15-18 at the Nordstrom Tennis Center on the UW campus and the Seattle Tennis Club, located downtown.
