CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. The Virginia wrestling team is represented by two of its student-athletes on the 2007-08 All-ACC Academic Wrestling Team, announced today by league commissioner John D. Swofford. Jack Danilkowicz (So., Green Oaks, Ill.) and Nick Nelson (Fr., Pittsburgh, Pa.) each were named to the squad.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.0 grade point average for the fall 2007 semester and maintained a 3.0 cumulative average during his academic career.

Nelson was one of just two on the team to also earn All-ACC honors during the season, joining Maryland’s Hudson Taylor, the league’s Wrestler of the Year. Nelson went 28-11 with four falls and five major decisions this season at 141 pounds. He took runner-up honors at the ACC tournament and posted one of the tournament’s biggest upsets as he shocked No. 1-seed and ninth-ranked Joe Caramanica of NC State in the semifinals.

Danilkowicz, a heavyweight, went 15-17 with two falls and a major decision this season and stepped up in the ACC tournament as he earned third place.
