CHARLOTTESVILLEFewer than 200 season tickets remain on sale for the 2008 Virginia football season. Season tickets cost $269 and include all seven of UVa’s 2008 home football games.

Because of a restructured sales approach, fewer season tickets were available this season. Virginia’s current season ticket total is 35,335 out of approximately 35,500 available season tickets. At a comparable time last year, UVa’s season ticket total was 39,415 and the final total for last season was 39,532.

Fewer season tickets are available this year because of a decision to restructure the sales approach after the priority season ticket sale period. Two ticket packages were created utilizing a total of 2,000 tickets for each of the seven home football games and additional tickets were made available for single game sales. The decision to restructure the sales approach was made to provide people with more options when determining how they would spend their entertainment dollars.

As a result of season ticket sales, the sale of the ticket packages and an advance single-game sale to donors and season ticket holders, fewer than 200 season tickets remain on sale.

“With our new football seating policy and the state of the economy, we monitored our season ticket sale and made the decision earlier than in the past to break our tickets into mini-packages,” said UVa Executive Associate Director of Athletics Jon Oliver. “That gave people additional ticket options and we’ve sold out one of the packages.”

The three-game Kickoff Package that included tickets to the Southern California, Richmond and East Carolina games is sold out. The four-game ACC Package ($168) featuring the Cavaliers’ home games with Maryland (Oct. 4), North Carolina (Oct. 18), Miami (Nov. 1) and Clemson (Nov. 22) is currently available for purchase.

Virginia’s season opener against Southern California on Aug. 30 is sold out.

Single-game tickets for the Sept. 6 “Retro Game” against Richmond ($16) and the Oct. 11 game versus East Carolina ($35) are currently on sale.

Single-game sales for UVa’s four Atlantic Coast Conference home games begin Aug. 11. Tickets for each of those games are $42.
