CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia wrestler Chris Henrich (Jr., Lansdale, Pa.) has been selected to participate in the 44th annual National Wrestling Coaches Association All-Star Classic, set for Nov. 22 in Titan Gym on the campus of Cal State Fullerton. One of the most prestigious events in college wrestling, the NWCA All-Star Classic features two of the nation’s premier wrestlers competing in one match at each weight class.

Henrich, ranked between No. 2 and No. 4 nationally in the preseason rankings, will wrestle No. 7 Stephen Dwyer of Nebraska in the 174-pound class. Henrich earned All-America honors last season with a seventh-place finish at the NCAA Championships. He went 40-3 last year in becoming UVa’s first All-American since 2004 and is ranked as high as No. 2 in the preseason polls.

Henrich is the third Virginia wrestler to participate in the NWCA All-Star Classic. The other two are both currently on the UVa coaching staff – head coach Steve Garland (2000) and associate head coach Scott Moore (2004).

The 20th-ranked Cavaliers open the 2009-10 campaign on Nov. 7 when they play host to Anderson and Campbell in a double dual at Memorial Gymnasium.
