CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia softball team (23-17, 7-4 ACC) will play a make-up doubleheader Wednesday at Hampton. Game times are set for 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. in Hampton, Va.

The Cavaliers are coming off a weekend in which they dropped their first conference series of the year, falling in three games to sixth-ranked Georgia Tech.

Virginia is led by seniors Sarah Tacke (.398) and Nicole Koren (.305) at the plate. The two combine for 72 hits, 15 home runs and 54 RBI this season. Clara Kendall (14 stolen bases), Alison Pittman (12) and Taylor Williams (10) lead the Cavaliers on the basepaths.

Freshman Melanie Mitchell leads UVa with 18 wins in the circle; she has a 3.13 ERA with 206 strikeouts in 190 1/3 innings of work. Koren also posts a 2.88 ERA and has pitched in 48 2/3 innings this season.

Hampton (18-24) is led by Kelsei Saunders, who posts a .366 batting average in addition to a team-best nine home runs and 36 RBI. Rebecca Magett hits .333 with five doubles, five home runs and 18 RBI, while Tamara Vicker leads the Pirates on the basepaths with 16 steals on 17 attempts this season.

Pitcher Jada Jeffries leads Hampton with nine wins in the circle. She has 60 strikeouts in 95 1/3 innings of work. Travonna Byrd, who has six wins, has struck out 85 in 92 innings pitched.

Virginia and Hampton have met just once before, with the Cavaliers earning a 4-2 win in Charlottesville last season.
