Charlottesville, VA – The 17th-ranked Virginia men’s golf team plays its third tournament in two weeks when the Cavaliers tee it up at the 32nd annual Schenkel Invitational this weekend. The three-day, 54-hole tournament will be held March 18-20 at the par-72, 6,962-yard Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro, Ga.

The 2011 field includes Auburn, Florida, Georgia Southern, Kentucky, LSU, Minnesota, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Notre Dame, North Carolina, NC State, North Florida, Tennessee and Vanderbilt.

The Schenkel Invitational is named after Hall-of-Fame sports broadcaster Chris Schenkel. Schenkel, who was the first to cover The Masters on television, the first to anchor a live telecast of the Olympics and to call a nationally broadcast college football game, helped lend his name to a tournament that has grown into one of the premier collegiate golf tournaments in the nation.

Virginia’s lineup will feature Amory Davis, Ben Kohles, Will Collins, Bruce Woodall and Ben Rusch. Davis leads the team with a 71.61 stroke average. He led the Cavaliers in their last outing, placing second at The Hackler Championship at 2-under 214.
