Charlottesville, VA – The 15th-ranked Virginia men’s golf team returns to South Carolina this week for The Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate hosted by The College of Charleston. The 54-hole, three-day tournament takes place at Bulls Bay Golf Club in Awendaw, S.C. The event is named after the Columbia, S.C. based band Hootie and the Blowfish who sponsor the tournament and play a concert for the participants.

This year’s field includes Texas A&M, Florida, August State, North Florida, Duke, South Carolina, Wake Forest, North Carolina, Mississippi, College of Charleston, Kentucky, NC State, Auburn and LSU.

Virginia’s lineup includes Cole Willcox, Will Collins, Ben Rusch, Amory Davis and Ben Kohles. The Cavaliers are paired with Augusta State and South Carolina in the first round and tee off starting at 10:50 a.m.

In 2010, the LSU men’s golf team led wire-to-wire to capture the sixth-annual Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate as it shot 5-under 279 in the final round to finish the event with a 54-hole score of 7-under 845. Matt Hill of the NC State fired rounds of 68-67-69 (-9) to take home the individual title.
