Brightwell and Nielson Advance at WSGA Amateur

Atlanta, GA – Current UVa women’s golfer Elizabeth Brightwell (Nellysford, Va.) and former Cavalier Calle Nielson (Nashville, Tenn.) both advanced to the round of 16 at the 96th annual Women’s Southern Golf Association Championships taking place in Atlanta.

Nielson, the top seed in match play, defeated Mississippi’s Alyssa Randolph 1 up. Brightwell handed Taffy Brower a 3 and 2 defeat. In Wednesday’s round of 16, Nielson will face Mary Alice Murphy while Brightwell will compete against Laura Coble.

The tournament is taking place at the Capital City Club and runs through Friday.
