CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia track and field team will have nine Cavaliers competing at this week’s NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. Preliminary rounds of track competition will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, with finals scheduled for Friday and Saturday. Trials and finals of field events will be held all four days.

CBS College Sports Network will air the championships on Friday from 7:30-9:30 p.m. ET, and on Saturday from 1-3 p.m. ET. NCAA.com will provide a webcast for portions of the meet that will not be broadcast on television. A link to the webcast and live results can be found at VirginiaSports.com.

Juniors Andy Fahringer (javelin) and Erin Wykoff (discus) will open competition for the Cavaliers on Thursday at 4 p.m. ET. Senior Lyndsay Harper will get track events going with the 800m at 7 p.m. ET, followed by sophomore Robby Andrews in the men’s 800m at 7:15 p.m. ET. Senior Ayla Smith will wrap up competition on the opening day with the 400m hurdles at 9:15 p.m. ET.

On Thursday, junior Morgane Gay will toe the line for the women’s 1500m race at 7 p.m. ET, while sophomore Brett Johnson will compete on the men’s side at 7:15 p.m. ET. Senior Adams Abdulrazaaq will run the 110m hurdles at 8:10 p.m. ET, and senior Stephanie Garcia will round out preliminary competition at 8:30 p.m. ET.

Finals of the women’s 400m hurdles (7:35 p.m. ET), women’s 800m run (8:10 p.m. ET) and men’s 800m run (8:20 p.m. ET) will be contested Friday, with Saturday’s events being the finals of the women’s 1500m (1:18 p.m. ET), the men’s 1500m (1:30 p.m. ET), the women’s steeplechase (1:54 p.m. ET) and the men’s 110m hurdles (2:16 p.m. ET).
