WASHINGTON, D.C. – Virginia sophomore Alex Domijan has been given a qualifying wild card to the Legg Mason Tennis Classic and will compete this weekend as play begins at the ATP 500 tournament at the Fitzgerald Tennis Center in Rock Creek Park. The 2011 ITA National Rookie of the Year will be one of 28 players competing for seven places in the 48-player main draw.

The qualifying draw will be announced Friday night with play scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.

Domijan is playing his second ATP qualifying draw of the year, having competed in qualifying at the Sony Ericsson ATP Masters 1000 event in Miami in March. He is currently ranked No. 723 in the world after reaching the second round of the Challenger Series event in Aptos, Calif., earlier this month.

The main draw field at Legg Mason includes Virginia alumnus Somdev Devvarman, currently ranked a career-high No. 62 in the world. A quarterfinalist in Washington in 2008, Devvarman has made three ATP quarterfinals this year, including last week in Atlanta.
