CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia men’s tennis team had a singles player and doubles team reach the finals of the ITA Atlantic Regional at the Snyder Tennis Center. Jarmere Jenkins (College Park, Ga.) will look to win the singles title for the third consecutive year, while Drew Courtney (Clifton, Va.) and Julen Uriguen (Guatemala City, Guatemala) will compete for the doubles title.

Jenkins, the top seed, advanced to the singles final with a pair of wins. In the quarterfinal, he saved two match points in a 6-7, 7-5, 7-5 win over Francisco Dias of George Washington that lasted over three hours. Later in the day he defeated third-seeded Luka Somen of Virginia Tech 6-2, 6-3 in the semifinals. He will play Jamie Whiteford of William & Mary in the final.

Justin Shane (Falls Church, Va.) opened the day with a 7-6, 6-3 quarterfinal victory over Filip Svensson of VCU. He lost in the semifinals 7-6, 6-2 to Whiteford. Uriguen fell in his quarterfinal match to Somen, 6-4, 6-2.

In doubles, the third-seeded duo of Courtney and Uriguen topped second-seeded Somen and Corrado Tocci of Virginia Tech 7-5, 6-4. They meet top-seeded Maros Horny and John Collins of Maryland in the final.

Both the singles final and doubles final are slated for 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the Snyder Tennis Center. Admission is free.
