Cavalier Golfers Remain in Third Place at The Gifford Collegiate

San Martin, CA – The Virginia men’s golf team stayed in third place after 36 holes of play at The Gifford Collegiate in San Martin, Calif. The Cavaliers shot 12-over 367 for a two-day total of 722 in the play-six, count-five format. USC leads the 11-team field at 13-under 697. UCLA is second at 709.

A pair of Cavaliers are among the top-10 players entering Tuesday’s final round. Ben Kohles is in fifth place at 2-under 140 after shooting 1-over 72 Tuesday. Denny McCarthy is ninth at 143, including a 73 in the second round.

Bruce Woodall and Ji Soo Park are tied for 13th at 144. Woodall shot 72 Tuesday while Park recorded a score of 74. Ben Rusch and Mac McLaughlin are tied for 47th at 152. Rusch posted a score of 77 during the second round while McLaughlin carded a 76.

UCLA’s Patrick Cantlay and Steve Lim of USC share the lead after 36 holes at 9-under 133.

The final round of the tournament will take place Wednesday. Virginia will tee off at 8:30 a.m. while paired with USC and UCLA. Live stats are online at Golfstat.com.
