CHARLOTTESVILLE — Virginia junior Jarmere Jenkins (College Park, Ga.) was the recipient of the sportsmanship award at the Virginia National Bank Men’s Pro Championships, held last week at the Boar’s Head Sports Club. Jenkins advanced from qualifying to reach the main draw of the ATP Challenger Tour event.

Jenkins, who reached the main draw with three wins in qualifying, topped world No. 273 Pierre-Ludovic Duclos of Canada in the first round, 6-2, 7-5. He will fell in three sets to third-seeded Bobby Reynolds, ranked No. 120 in the world, in the second round. It marks the third consecutive year the Cavaliers have had an active player win a main draw match, joining Sanam Singh (2009 quarterfinalist) and Michael Shabaz (2010 finalist).
