CHARLOTTESVILLE – The second-ranked Virginia men’s tennis team announced its captains for the 2012 season. Senior Drew Courtney (Clifton, Va.) and junior Jarmere Jenkins (College Park. Ga.) will lead the program this season.

“Drew and Jarmere have continued to improve as players, but they have also developed into outstanding leaders who their teammates believe are prepared and excited to lead our team this upcoming spring,” said head coach Brian Boland. “The coaching staff is extremely proud of the commitment Drew and Jarmere have to taking on the responsibility of becoming team captains.”

Courtney is a two-time doubles All-American and won the 2010 NCAA Doubles Championship with Michael Shabaz. He was selected to the last two NCAA Singles Championships. Jenkins is currently ranked a career-high No. 11 nationally in singles. He is a two-time All-ACC selection and was also selected to the last two NCAA Singles Championships.

Virginia will begin the 2012 season on January 22 as it faces No. 46 USF in Miami.
