PLANTATION, Fla. — Virginia men’s tennis co-captains Drew Courtney (Clifton, Va.) and Jarmere Jenkins (College Park, Ga.) won the doubles title at the Plantation Open, a USTA Futures Tour event. It was the second career Futures Tour doubles title for Jenkins and the first for Courtney.

In Friday’s final, Jenkins and Courtney defeated the No. 2 seed, Nick Monroe and Jack Sock, 7-6(3), 7-5. Both of those players are ranked in the top 400 in the ATP rankings in singles. In the semifinals, the duo edged former Cavalier Michael Shabaz and Florida State standout Vahid Mirzadeh 6-3, 6-7, 10-6.

In singles, Jenkins reached the round of 16 at the event. Mitchell Frank (Annandale, Va.) was a wild card entry into the singles main draw, while Courtney and Alex Domijan (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) also competed in qualifying singles.
