CHARLOTTESVILLE – Virginia junior tennis player Jarmere Jenkins (College Park, Ga.) was named ACC Men’s Tennis Co-Player of the Week, conference officials announced Tuesday. Jenkins, who shares this week’s award with Duke’s Henrique Cunha, led the Cavaliers to three top-15 wins last week.

Jenkins went 3-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles last week in Virginia’s wins over No. 15 Texas, No. 5 Florida and No. 11 Texas A&M. He had three straight set wins at No. 1 singles, including a 6-4, 6-4 win over No. 19 Alexis Klegou of Texas A&M. Jenkins teamed with Drew Courtney (Clifton, Va.) for three wins at No. 1 doubles, including an 8-3 victory over fourth-ranked Nassam Slilam and Billy Federhofer of Florida.

It is the first honor of Jenkins’ career and the first for a Cavalier this season.

The second-ranked Cavaliers open ACC play on Wednesday as they visit Maryland. Match time at the Tennis Center of College Park is 3 p.m.
