CHARLOTTESVILLE – Virginia senior Jarmere Jenkins (College Park, Ga.) was named the ACC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, conference officials announced Tuesday. Jenkins helped lead the top-ranked Cavaliers to a 6-1 win over No. 5 Oklahoma on Sunday, their third top-five win of season.

In singles, Jenkins rallied from down a set and a break to defeat 2012 All-American Costin Paval 2-6, 6-4, 10-2 at the No. 1 position. The win was Jenkins’ 118th career victory, moving him into a tie for seventh place on Virginia’s career wins list with Drew Courtney.

The award is the fourth of Jenkins’ career, as he was honored three times last season. It is the second award for a Cavalier this season as Alex Domijan (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) was honored two weeks ago.

Virginia begins a four-match spring break road trip on March 11 at Baylor. The Cavaliers won’t return home until March 22 when they open ACC play by hosting No. 4 Duke.
