Huey and Inglot Advance to US Open Second Round

FLUSHING MEADOWS, N.Y. – The Virginia men’s tennis team had a pair of doubles teams comprised of alumni and current players in action Thursday at the US Open. Treat Huey (Class of 2008) and Dominic Inglot (Class of 2009) were victorious in the first round, while Jarmere Jenkins (Class of 2013) and current sophomore Mac Styslinger (Birmingham, Ala.) lost in their US Open debut.

Huey and Inglot, the No. 16 seed in the draw, advanced to the second round for the second straight year. The pair of Cavalier alumni edged Austrians Jurgen Melzer and Julian Knowle 6-2, 6-7(4), 7-6(5). They will play Lukas Dlouhy of the Czech Republic and Italian Daniele Bracciali in the second round.

Jenkins and Styslinger, who received a wild card into the US Open as the reigning NCAA Doubles Champions, suffered a 6-3, 6-2 loss to No. 14 seeds Michael Llodra and Nicolas Mahut of France.

On Friday, Cavalier alumnus Somdev Devvarman (Class of 2008) will play in the second round of singles. He plays Italian Andreas Seppi, the No. 20 seed.
