CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.—The Virginia rowing program has released its 2014 spring schedule, head coach Kevin Sauer announced Tuesday (Oct. 29). The Cavaliers will compete in seven regattas.

Virginia’s lone home regatta in the spring will be the UVa Invite on April 26 at Lake Monticello. Duke, Michigan State and ACC newcomer Syracuse will all compete at the regatta. UVa will compete against the Spartans at 9 a.m., while the Cavaliers will face the Orange at 1 p.m.

The Cavaliers open the season with a scrimmage against Michigan State on March 8 in Claytor Lake State Park, Va., before competing in the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invite in Oak Ridge, Tenn., March 15-16.

Virginia heads west for the Pac 12 Invite in Redwood Shores, Calif., March 29-30, which will feature Clemson, Louisville, Oregon State, Stanford, USC and Wisconsin.

The Cavaliers will face Ivy League schools Princeton and Columbia on April 5 in Princeton, N.J., before heading to Ann Arbor, Mich., for the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, featuring new ACC member Notre Dame, Michigan and defending NCAA Champion Ohio State.

The ACC Championships will be held once again in Clemson, S.C., on May 17. With the additions of Syracuse and Notre Dame, the conference regatta will now feature eight schools and will be contested in heats and finals for the four divisions (Varsity Eight, Second Varsity Eight, Varsity Four and Third Varsity Eight), as opposed to timed finals like the past few years. Virginia has won 13 of the previous 14 ACC Championships, including the last four.

Indianapolis’ Eagle Creek Park Lake will be the host for the NCAA Championships for the second consecutive season May 30-June 1.

The Cavaliers conclude their fall season with the Rivanna Romp on Nov. 17 at 9 a.m. at the Rivanna Reservoir in Earlysville, Va. Admission is free to the public.
