Greensboro, N.C. – The 23rd-ranked Virginia women’s golf team finished second at the ACC Championships at the Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C. The Cavaliers shot 37-over 889 over three days including a final round effort of 15-over 299.

Third-ranked Duke won its third-straight ACC title and 19th overall in the 26-year history of the event. The Blue Devils finished at 10-over 862. NC State was third at 890 followed by North Carolina in fourth place at 896.

It marks the fourth time the Cavaliers have been the runners-up. They also placed second in 2006, 2008 and 2010.

UVa had top-five finishes from Briana Mao and Lauren Coughlin. Mao was third overall at 4-over 218. She shot 3-over 74 during Saturday’s play. Coughlin was fifth at 220. She posted a final-round score of 76. Mao’s outing was her best this season and marked the third consecutive year she has posted a top-11 finish at the event.

Coughlin’s finish was the best of her career and her second top-10 outing this season. Her score of 220 equaled the best tournament score of her career.

Virginia had a trio of players tie for 25th at 229 including Lauren Diaz-Yi, Portland Rosen and Elizabeth Brightwell.

Duke sophomore Celine Boutier took medalist honors at 3-under 210.
