CHARLOTTESVILLE – Virginia junior men’s tennis player Mitchell Frank (Annandale, Va.) has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District 3 at-large first team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday. With the selection, Frank is now eligible for Academic All-America consideration.

In October, he won the ITA All-American Championships singles title, the marquee event of the fall season. Later this month he will be the No. 4 seed for the NCAA Singles Championship.

Academically, Frank boasts a 3.51 grade point average as a Foreign Affairs major. To be eligible for consideration, an athlete must have a minimum 3.30 GPA and compete in half of their team’s contests that season. The men’s at-large team includes athletes from fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.

The Cavaliers will return to action Friday at the NCAA Championships in Athens, Ga. The fourth-seeded Cavaliers play No. 13 Notre Dame at noon Friday in the round of 16.
