CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.-The Virginia volleyball team fell in its home finale to Pitt, 25-18, 25-15, 22-25 and 25-14, Sunday afternoon at Memorial Gymnasium. With the loss, the Cavaliers dropped to 16-13 (9-7 ACC) on the season, while the Panthers improved to 23-6 (11-5 ACC).

The Panthers outhit the Cavaliers, .348-.232 and had 10 service aces to UVa’s four. Virginia led in blocks, 11-8.

Junior Natalie Bausback tied a career high with nine blocks and hit .421 with nine kills to lead the Cavaliers. Senior Tori Janowski (Sterling, Va.) had a team-high 14 kills on .333 hitting, while sophomore Haley Kole (Tallahassee, Fla.) added 12 kills.

In the first two sets, Pitt hit. 400 and .577, to take the frames, 25-18 and 25-15.

Bausback had seven blocks in the third set as the Cavaliers held the Panthers to a .000 hitting percentage en route to a 25-22 win, but Pitt hit .433 with 16 kills against only three errors to claim the fourth set, 25-14.

Pitt was led by Kate Yeazel, who tallied 15 kills on .500 hitting, and Mechael Guess, who hit .467 with 16 kills.

Before the match, the Cavaliers honored its senior class, including Janowski, Morgan Blair (Long Valley, N.J.), Sydney Shelton (Stockton, Calif.) and Abbey Welborn (Pasadena, Calif.).

Up next, the Cavaliers will finish the regular season on the road with matches at Boston College on Nov. 26 at 1 p.m. and Syracuse Nov. 28 at 7 p.m.
