MALIBU, Calif. – Senior Ryan Shane (Falls Church, Va.) and junior Luca Corinteli (Alexandria, Va.) won the doubles title at the inaugural Oracle/ITA Masters Tournament on Sunday (Sept. 20) in Malibu, Calif.

The No. 2 seeded team of Shane and Corinteli came back from a set down to defeat TCU’s Cameron Norrie and Guillermo Nunez 3-6, 7-5, 10-8 in the opening round and then earned a 6-3, 6-2 win over Florida State’s Benjamin Lock/Marco Nunez in the semifinals. They locked up the title with a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Pepperdine’s Guilherme Hadlich/Gabriel Sidney in Sunday’s final.

The Oracle/ITA Masters is the first national collegiate championship of the 2015-16 season and featured sixteen of the top returning Division I men’s and women’s singles players, along with eight outstanding men’s and women’s doubles teams.

“It was a lot of fun to come out here and it was one of the most beautiful places I’ve been able to play tennis at,” said Corinteli. “We were lucky enough to be invited to this tournament, so you know, it was a joy from the beginning to the end and to end the tournament this way is pretty awesome.”

Shane also competed in the single’s draw, falling to Texas Tech’s Felipe Soares, 6-3, 4-6, 6-2, in the opening round. Soares had lost to Shane 6-7 (4), 6-4, 3-6 in the quarterfinal round of the 2015 NCAA National Singles Championship. All four seeds in the 16-player men’s singles draw were ousted in Friday’s first round, including No. 2 Shane. Shane rebounded on Saturday with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Florida State’s Benjamin Lock and took down top-seeded Axel Alvarez Llamas of Oklahoma 6-4, 6-3 in Sunday’s consolation final.
