USC Los Angeles Pro Futures Draws/Scores

LOS ANGELES – Virginia men’s tennis junior Thai-Son Kwiatkowski (Charlotte, N.C.) advanced through qualifying into the main draw of the $25,000 USC Los Angeles Pro Futures Tournament, being held at the Marks Tennis Stadium.

Kwiatkowski earned one of eight available spots in the singles main draw with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Andrew Carter on Monday afternoon. Kwiatkowski had downed Tanner K. Smith 6-2, 6-0 in Saturday’s opening round then followed with a 7-6(2), 6-3 win against Strong Kirchheimer on Sunday.

Senior Mac Styslinger (Birmingham, Ala.) also competed in qualifying, advancing to the second round with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Jared Thompkins before falling 7-5, 6-0 to Liam Caruana on Sunday.

Sophomore Collin Altamirano (Sacramento, Calif.) advanced to the second round of qualifying with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Nicholas Shamma but was edged 6-7(5), 6-2, 7-6 (1) by Nicholas Hu Sunday afternoon.
