CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia’s Michael Howard was named to the men’s lacrosse All-Atlantic Coast Conference squad, as announced by the league office on Wednesday. The team is determined by a vote of the league’s five head coaches. The accolade is the first career honor for the redshirt junior long-stick midfielder.

Howard (Richmond, Va.) is one of the nation’s most dynamic long-stick midfielders. Howard ranks tied for No. 1 on UVA and No. 5 in the ACC with 3.57 ground balls per game. He leads all long-poles in the ACC in ground balls.

The Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year and Coach of the Year will be announced early next week.

Virginia returns to action next Saturday in the ACC-Brown Showcase in Kennesaw, Ga. UVA and No. 2 Brown will meet at Third Bank Stadium. Faceoff is set at 7 p.m.
