Congratulations to incoming #UVAMSOC player Lucas Mendes out of Washington-Lee High School in Arlington, Va., who was named the Gatorade National Soccer Player of the Year yesterday, an award that not only honors success in athletics but also in academics and exemplary character. Mendes was selected from a pool of over 432,000 high school boys soccer players nationwide and is now a finalist for the Gatorade Male High School Athlete of the Year award, which will be presented at a special ceremony prior to The ESPY Awards in July.

Last night, former #UVAFB defensive end Trent Corney was taken with the first pick of the second round of the Canadian Football League draft by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Corney, a native of Brockville, Ontario, played in 34 games in his Cavalier career, including 11 starts last season. However, the thing that Corney might be best known for is the YouTube clip below that went viral two years ago.
