J.C. Aragone Named ACC Men's Tennis Player of the Week

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia men’s tennis team senior J.C. Aragone (Yorba Linda, Calif.) has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week in honors announced Tuesday (Feb. 21) by the league office.
Aragone clinched the victory for the Cavaliers over Ohio State to win the ITA National Team Indoor Championship title, the sixth in program history and its first since 2013. The senior defeated No. 47 Herkko Pollanen from Ohio State, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6, at No. 4 singles to seal the victory for Virginia. Aragone went undefeated at the championship, recording a 3-0 singles and 4-0 doubles match record. Aragone also picked up a singles and a doubles win earlier in the week in Virginia’s dual match against No. 17 Illinois.
This is his first career ACC Player of the Week honor.
The Cavaliers will be playing as individuals in professional tournaments for the next several weeks before returning to dual matches on Saturday, March 18 when they play at Notre Dame. Virginia’s next home match will be Sunday, March 26 when they host Duke at 1 p.m on the outdoor courts at the Snyder Tennis Center.
