CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 3 Virginia men’s tennis team (14-0, 1-0 ACC) returns to Atlantic Coast Conference play this weekend with a Saturday, March 18 match at No. 37 Notre Dame (8-5, 1-1 ACC) at 2 p.m. at the Eck Tennis Pavilion in Notre Dame, Ind.

The undefeated Cavaliers are No. 3 in this week’s ITA team rankings, improving to 14-0 after playing five matches this week against Monmouth (twice), Washington & Lee and Virginia Wesleyan (twice). Seniors Thai-Son Kwiatkowski (Charlotte, N.C.) and J.C. Aragone (Yorba Linda, Calif.) are both on 10-match win streaks in singles. Kwiatkowski is ranked No. 9 in the latest singles rankings with a 10-1 record in duals this season. Aragone is 20-6 in singles this year and ranked No. 59 in the singles rankings. Junior Collin Altamirano (Sacramento, Calif.) is ranked No. 60 in singles. Freshman Carl Soderlund (Stockholm, Sweden) is ranked No. 117.

Kwiatkowski and junior Alexander Ritschard (Zurich, Switzerland) are a perfect 9-0 in doubles this season. Additionally, Kwiatkowski won his third pro Futures doubles title competing last week over Spring Break in Toulouse, France. Kwiatkowski won back-to-back Futures titles in doubles last summer in Charlottesville and Winston-Salem. He also won a singles title at a Futures tournament in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico on Christmas Eve.

Notre Dame has dropped its only two matches in March, a 7-0 loss at Ohio State and a 4-3 setback at Louisville last Saturday. Matt Gamble is 10-3 in singles in dual matches this season, playing at two, three, four and six. Josh Hagar is the only ranked player on the squad, at No. 33. Hagar has a 14-9 overall record in singles and is 5-5 at No. 1 in duals.

Up next, Virginia will play at N.C. State (9-7, 0-1 ACC) next Friday (March 24) before returning home for its first scheduled outdoor match of the season, hosting Duke (8-5, 1-2 ACC) on Sunday, March 26 at 1 p.m. at the Snyder Tennis Center. Admission is free for all UVA home games.
