CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Five members of the Virginia men’s tennis team will be competing at the ITA Atlantic Regional, being held Thursday through Tuesday, Oct. 19-24, at the Cook Tennis Center and Hershey-Esbenshade Tennis Courts at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va.

Freshmen Jefferson Dockter (Atlanta, Ga.) and Jerome Romualdez (Manila, Philippines) will begin play in the singles qualifying tournament on Thursday. Junior Aswin Lizen (Douglas, Isle of Man), redshirt freshman Ammar Alhaqbani (Alexandria, Va.) and freshman Matthew Lord (Bloomfield, Conn.) will be competing in the main draw of the singles tournament which begins on Friday.

The tournament begins on Thursday with two rounds of qualifying singles with action starting at 11 a.m. Friday will feature round of 64 doubles and round of 128 singles matches with play beginning at 9 a.m.

Live results from the matches will periodically be updated on Liberty’s website throughout the tournament. Those links will be posted on the schedule page of VirginiaSports.com. Draws and match-ups will be announced later.

The singles and doubles champions will automatically earn a spot at next month’s Oracle ITA National Fall Championships at Indian Wells.

The Cavaliers have won the singles title at the regional eight times, including J.C. Aragone, who won the title last year. Other Cavaliers winning the singles championship include Huntley Montgomery (2000), Dominic Inglot (2007-08), Jarmere Jenkins (2009-10), Harrison Richmond (2012) and Ryan Shane (2014).
