MELBOURNE, Australia – Former Virginia men’s tennis players Dominic Inglot is competing at the  Australian Open, which runs from January 14-27 in Melbourne, Australia.

Inglot and his partner, Franko Skugor of Croatia, are the No. 10 seed in the doubles draw. He will also be playing in mixed doubles, partnering with Johanna Larsson of Sweden.

Inglot and Skugor downed Taro Daniel of Japan and Australian John Millman, 7-5, 6-3 in the opening round of doubles before falling to Marcelo Demoliner of Brazil and Frederik Nielsen of Denmark in the second round.

Inglot and Larsson lost 6-2, 6-2 to Kristin Mladenovic and Robert Lindstedt in the opening round of mixed doubles.

This is the fourth Grand Slam that Inglot and Skugor have played together as a team. The duo fell in the opening round of the French Open, advanced to the Round of 16 at the US Open and made a run to the semifinals at Wimbledon. The duo won three tournaments together last season, earning the titles at the Gazprom Hungarian Open in April, the Libema Open in s-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands in June and the Basel Indoors in October.

This is Inglot’s seventh appearance at the Australian Open and his 27th time competing in a Grand Slam event.

This is the 39th-consecutive Grand Slam in which a Cavalier has appeared.

Former Cavalier JC Aragone earned a spot in the singles qualifying tournament, falling 5-7, 6-0, 6-4 to Maxime Janvier.
