Carl Söderlund Withdraws from NCAA Singles Championship

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –Virginia men’s tennis junior Carl Soderlund (Stockholm, Sweden) has withdrawn from the 2019 NCAA Men’s Tennis Singles Championship, being held May 20-25 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.
 
Senior Henrik Wiersholm (Kirkland, Wash.) and freshman Brandon Nakashima (San Diego) were selected as first alternates to compete in the NCAA Men’s Tennis Doubles Championship, but have also withdrawn from consideration.
 
Söderlund earns All-America status in singles after earning one of the top 16 seeds in the tournament. It is the first All-America honor for Söderlund, who was named the 2019 ACC Player of the Year and ITA Atlantic Region Player to Watch as well as earning his second-straight First Team All-ACC recognition.
