CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –The No. 4 Virginia women’s soccer team (7-0-0) hits the road for the first time this season, traveling to face No. 8 Penn State (4-2-1) in a 1 p.m. match on Sunday (Sept. 15) at Jeffrey Field.

• Sophomore midfielder Alexa Spaanstra is tied for first nationally in total assists with seven 
• Senior forward Meghan McCool entered the weekend ranked 15th nationally in goals with six
• Sophomore Ashlynn Serepca notched her first game-winning goal on Sunday against Minnesota and 
   scored two goals in Thursday’s win over William & Mary
 
A LOOK AT PENN STATE
• The Nittany Lions enters the weekend with an overall record of 4-2-1
• Penn State is coming off a 2-1 loss to Oklahoma State in double OT 
•  Ally Schlegel leads Penn State with five goals and 11 points this season
• Frankie Tagliaferri matches her 11 points with four goals and three assists
• Four different Nittany Lions have hit game-winning goals this season
• Penn State has played three keepers with Amanda leading in wins (2-1),
   but Kat Asman logging the most minutes (346) in net
 
THE SERIES WITH THE NITTANY LIONS
• Penn State leads the all-time series with UVA 7-5-1 and 4-2-1 at home
• UVA won the first meeting in 1997 on the road before PSU won five straight
• The Cavaliers have won four consecutive matches in the series with PSU
• This will be the fourth straight year to meet the Nittany Lions and third away from home for the Hoos
• Virginia won the last meeting 2-1 in the 2018 season at Penn State
 
LAST TIME OUT AGAINST THE NITTANY LIONS
• Virginia won the last meeting between the teams, taking a 2-1 victory at Jeffrey Stadium on Sept. 9, 2018
