Charlottesville, Va. – The Virginia women’s golf team returns to action this weekend at the 44th annual Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C. The three-day tournament will run Friday through Sunday at the university’s par-72, 6,379-yard Finley Golf Course.
 
The 18-team field includes Alabama, Arkansas, Charlotte, Clemson, Duke, Furman, Kentucky, Michigan, Michigan State, NC State, North Carolina, Ohio State, Rollins, South Carolina, Tulane, UNCW, Virginia and Wake Forest.
 
Virginia’s lineup for this year’s tournament features senior’s senior Julia Ford (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and junior Beth Lillie (Fullerton, Calif.), sophomore Riley Smyth (Cary, N.C.) and freshmen Haeley Wotnosky (Wake Forest, N.C.) and Virginia Bossi (Como, Italy).
 
The Cavaliers finished second at last year’s tournament thanks to top-five finishes from senior Anna Redding and Lillie. Redding was fourth at 5-under 211 while Lillie shot 4-under 212.
 
Virginia opens play Friday at 9:54 a.m. from the first tee. UVA is paired with Alabama and Ohio State during the first round.
