Creedon Leads Virginia On Final Day of Georgia Tech Invite
ATLANTA – The Virginia men’s and women’s diving teams concluded competition at the Georgia Tech Invite at the McAuley Aquatic Center on Sunday (Nov. 24).
“It was fun to watch the diving squad do some great things down in Atlanta at their invite,” head coach Todd DeSorbo said. “Sydney (Dusel) has gotten off to a hot start, picking up where she left off last season. She’s one of the best in the country. Our underclassmen crew is really thriving under Coach Drew Livingston as we saw some bright spots to get excited about. Bryce (Shelton) has been a consistent performer for us his entire career and he continues to lead. It’s good to see Jocelyn (Porter) coming on strong. Walker (Creedon) does the platform best and showed that this weekend as well. Looking forward to the divers adding valuable performances as we near championship season.”
Sophomore Walker Creedon (Cary, N.C.) led the Cavaliers, capturing a fourth-place finish on the men’s platform. Creedon recorded 71.40 points with his fourth-round dive and 68.80 points on his final attempt to leap into the top five of the event. He finished with a score of 302.50.
In the women’s platform, junior Jocelyn Porter (Cornelius, N.C.) led the team, capturing a seventh-place finish. She recorded a score of 223.20. Freshman Charlotte Bowen (Dana Point, Calif.) scored 198.65 to place 14th in the event. Bowen’s dive ranks ninth all-time in UVA history.
Virginia will send members of the team to the Toyota U.S. Winter Nationals Dec. 5-7 at the Georgia Tech Campus Recreation Center in Atlanta.
