Volleyball Set to Preview 2019 with Orange & Blue Scrimmage

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia volleyball will take the court for the first time in 2019 with the Orange & Blue Scrimmage at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday (Aug. 24) in Memorial Gymnasium. Admission to the scrimmage, along with all Virginia volleyball matches this season, is free.
Prior to the intrasquad scrimmage, the Cavaliers will hold a free kids clinic from 10:15-11:00 a.m. in Memorial Gymnasium. Youth 8th grade and under, of all skill levels, are encouraged to attend and no advanced registration is required. The Cavaliers will sign the 2019 poster at the conclusion of the clinic. Parents of participants are required to stay and observe the duration of the clinic.
The Cavaliers will split into two teams of eight for the scrimmage. Team Orange will be coached by second-year assistant Nikki Dailey while Team Blue will be led by first-year assistant Joe Klein. The two squads will play five sets in the scrimmage.
Saturday’s scrimmage is the lone exhibition for the Cavaliers prior to opening the 2019 regular season by hosting the Cavalier Classic. Virginia will open the year against Furman at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 30 before facing Coastal Carolina and Loyola (Md.) on Saturday (Aug. 31) in Memorial Gymnasium.
