Look Hoos Talking (and Painting)

On Thursday at 6pm, former Cavalier Clare Spooner (2011-14) wil be doing an Instagram Live chat tonight at 6pm, talking about how “@uvawomenstennis prepared me for the real world and my artist career.” Sounds like some “Must ‘Gram” content to us! Even better, she is joining her two interests, tennis and art, in her latest series of work. You can check out some of Clare’s work on her Instagram account or on her web page. And, if you scroll to the second frame of this Instagram post, you can watch her create a drawing of something in that thematic area (we don’t want to spoil it for you).

#HoosCare

Last week, we told you about @UVAWomensSoccer’s Rebecca Jarrett fundraiser for Feeding America. CBS19’s Danielle Stein has a few more of the details in this report.

Jarrett and her teammate Alexa Spaanstra also were the next two to take part in the #HoosYourHero campaign, thanking some of  #therealheros of the COVID-19 fight.

#HoosChoiceAwards

Another wave of Hoos Choice awards were announced on Wednesday, including the Coaches’ Awards of Excellence (Fall Sports Winners | Winter | Spring). There have also been some virtual accepatance speeches for the virtual awards ceremony. And by “acceptance speeches” we mean sincere and humble thank-yous, such as the one above from @uvabaseball’s Logan Michaels.

Tyler Wilson took the mound again for the LG Twins of the KBL this morning, pitching six innings, allowing two runs on four hits for a no-decision. We should have “spolier alerted” that since you can re-watch the game at 2pm today on ESPN2 (in case you weren’t up at 5:30 am to watch the first airing this morning). Wilson, who is a great interview and one of the few American athletes actively playing a sport right now, has become quite the media darling. Here is another interview with Wilson, this time coming from Baseball Insider.
