Look Hoos Drafted (Again)

It is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for a student-athlete to be drafted. Or you would think. In the case of @UVAMensLax’s Michael Kraus, it was a twice-in-two-weeks experience. On May 4, Kraus was selected in the first round (second overall pick) by the Connecticut Hammerheads in the Major League Lacrosse draft. On May 13, Krause was again selected in the first round (this time with the third overall pick) by the Waterdogs in the Premiere Lacrosse draft. What’s a Hoo to do? Answer in the tweet embedded above.

Hoos With Trophies?

Congratulations to incoming @UVAFootball player Chris Barfield. Barfield, a preferred walk-on for next year’s squad, was named one of the 10 finalists for the The Richmond Times-Dispatch/Sports Backers Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Bird attended LC Bird High School in Chesterfield, Va., where he was named a Scholar-Athlete All-American earlier this year. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the RTD Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards banquet has been canceled, but the winner will be announced on a video stream on Richmond.com on June 1 at 7 p.m. Good luck Chris!

Legendary Hoo

@UVABaseball’s Coordinator of Video and Scouting Mike Garza was a legend in the Valley Baseball Program. He played two seasons with the Woodstock River Bandits and is a member of the All-Decade team as a third baseman. He recently joined the VBL Video Podcast. Check out what he had to say in the video embedded above.
