Student-Athlete
Former @UVABaseball standout Phil Gosselin may be playing for another team now (the Philadelphia Phillies), but he is still very much a student-athlete. Last week, Gosselin drove in two runs for the Philadelphia Phillies in a 5-4 home victory over the New York Yankees, capping a torrid stretch in which he batted a team-leading .600 over the first five games of the season. Then, the very next day, the infielder was on his laptop, taking final exams in media studies and history courses that he needed toward his degree in economics from UVA. You can read this profile in UVA Today in which Gosslin talks about his balancing act, or, if you have a subscription to The Athletic, they also wrote a article on this.
#Groundskeepers
Members of the #UVAFootball team continued posting to social media this weekend as they made time to march from the spot on the Downtown Mall where started Heather Heyer lost her life to the Rotunda as part of their #Groundskeepers initiative, a community outreach group focused on unity. Search the hashtag to see more posts from the players and coaches.
