CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia director of track & field and cross country/associate athletics director of administration Vin Lananna announced the commitment of Janae Profit on Thursday (Nov. 12) as the program’s first track and field member for the class of 2025.

One of the top throws prospects in the nation, Profit is an extremely talented and versatile athlete. Hailing from Dunwoody High School in Atlanta, she has already etched her name amongst the best in Georgia state history and will look to make her presence felt in the collegiate ranks as a Virginia Cavalier.

Personal Records: Discus (49.68m; 163’) | Shot Put (14.07m; 46’2”) | Weight Throw (16.81m; 55’2”)
Athletic Achievement: Holds the second-best discus throw mark of all time in Georgia high school track and field history. Voted Thrower of the Dekalb by Georgia MileSplit community.
Fun Fact: Profit was a competitive swimmer before she made the switch to track and field. She has a passion for big dogs, especially her two four-legged friends.
Academic Interest: Media Studies and Political Science
Why UVA: “I was introduced to UVA by its reputation of academic excellence. However, I fell in love with the people, the academic offerings, the campus and ultimately the track and field coaches and team.”
