Six Cavaliers Place, Three Win Titles At Mat Town II

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Three members of the Virginia wrestling team claimed titles to lead a group of six placewinners at the Mat Town II on Sunday (Feb. 23) at Lock Haven University.
The three titles came from redshirt sophomore Denton Spencer (Waverly, Ga.) at 149 pounds, freshman Justin Phillips (Lynchburg, Va.) at 157 pounds and junior Drew Peck (Chambersburg, Pa.) at 184 pounds. Spencer went 4-0 with a pin and a tech fall on the way to his title, while Phillips went 4-0 with a major decision and Peck went 3-0 with a pair of pins in a combined 47 seconds and a tech fall in the finals to claim his title.
The three placewinners for the Cavaliers were junior Sam Book (Fairfax, Va.) at 133 pounds, redshirt sophomore Brian Courtney (Sayre, Pa.) at 141 pounds and redshirt freshman Victor Marcelli (Massillon, Ohio) at 174 pounds. Book turned in a fourth-place finish, while Courtney finished third and Marcelli finished fourth.
In all, 17 members of the Virginia squad competed at the tournament across eight weight classes.
