CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia’s men’s and women’s track and field teams return to action after a winter break when the Cavaliers compete in the Virginia Tech Invitational at Rector Field House. Events will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 14. Competition will resume at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 15.

Eleven Schools are set to compete including Virginia, Virginia Tech, Duke, North Carolina, NC State, Syracuse, Tennessee, Army, UNC Charlotte, High Point, and VCU.

The Cavaliers return 13 All-ACC athletes from last season as well as three All-Americans. The first USTFCCCA rankings are expected to be released on Jan. 24.

Admission to the meet is free. Live results will be available through a link posted to virginiasports.com.

HOO TO WATCH:

Owayne Owens returns for the Cavaliers following an impressive 2021 season. The triple jumper earned his first ACC title in the event as he collected All-ACC honors for the second consecutive season. Owens went on to finish sixth in the nation and collect All-American honors for his personal best mark of 16.53m, which ranks third on UVA’s all-time indoor performance list.

This season Jada Seaman looks to become the first Virginia athlete to win an ACC Indoor title in three consecutive seasons as she has won the long jump each of her past two campaigns. In 2021, Seaman earned her first All-American honors when she finished 12th nationally in the long jump. She also sits atop Virginia’s all-time indoor performance list in the long jump with her mark of 6.46m set in 2020.

In 2021 Alix Still inked her place in the Virginia record books. Her 3974 points in the pentathlon at the ACC Championships ranks third on the Virginia all-time performance list. Still collected All-ACC honors for the second consecutive season, as well as All-American honors for the first time in her career last season.
