CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –  The No. 6 Virginia men’s tennis team (18-5, 11-0 ACC) hosts Boston College (5-15, 0-11 ACC) on Sunday, April 17 at 1 p.m. at the Virginia Tennis Facility at the Boar’s Head Resort.

NOTING THE CAVALIERS

  • Sunday’s match is the final match of the regular season
  • The Cavaliers bring a 13-game win streak into the contest
  • UVA moved up two spots in this week’s ITA national team rankings to No. 6, matching their highest ranking of the season
  • The Cavaliers are 11-0 in the ACC. With a victory, the Cavaliers would log their 15th ACC regular-season title and post a perfect conference record for the 11th time in program history
  • The Cavaliers were 12-0 in the ACC last season and the conference’s regular-season champion
  • Virginia has guaranteed itself the No. 1 seed in the ACC tournament as they can finish no worse than in a tie for first in the conference with Wake Forest. UVA owns the tiebreaker against the Demon Deacons. The full tournament bracket will be released on Sunday evening
  • Chris Rodesch and Ryan Goetz lead the Cavaliers in singles victories with 21 apiece. Both have won their last seven completed matches
  • Rodesch is ranked No. 17 in the latest ITA singles rankings
  • Jeffrey von der Schulenburg is ranked No. 24. Von der Schulenburg is 20-4 in singles and has won his last 11 completed matches
  • Fifth-year senior Gianni Ross will be one of three players honored in the Senior Day ceremony before the match. Ross is 13-2 in singles in dual matches this season. He brings a career record of 79-11 in singles matches into the weekend
  • Grad students Jackson Allen and Jefferson Dockter will also be honored before the match
  • The Senior Day ceremony will take place at 12:50 p.m. before the start of the match

NOTING BOSTON COLLEGE

  • The Eagles picked up a 7-0 win against NCAA II Assumption last Sunday afternoon on their home courts
  • The Eagles’ tandem of Juan Jose Bianchi and Max Motlagh is ranked No. 90 in doubles
  • The Cavaliers are 20-0 all-time against BC

ON THE HORIZON

  • The ACC Championship will be held Apr. 20-24 at the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, Ga. Tournament seeding and brackets will be announced Sunday (April 17) afternoon
  • The Cavaliers will have a double-bye in the tournament, beginning play on Friday, April 22 in the quarterfinals
