DUFFEL, Belgium – Virginia men’s tennis sophomore Chris Rodesch (Angelsburg, Luxembourg) won the first ITF World Tennis Tour title of his career on Saturday (June 18) when he won the doubles draw at the 15K tournament in Duffel, Belgium.

Rodesch partnered in the doubles draw with his Davis Cup teammate and Florida State alum Alex Knaff. The duo opened the tournament by taking out the No. 3 seed in the draw and edged top-seededConstantin Frantzen and Tim Sandkaulen 7-6 (5), 7-6 (4) in the semifinals. They closed the tournament with a 6-1, 6-4 win against the No. 2 seeds Franco Emmanuel Egea and Marcelo Zormann.

This was the first ITF World Tennis Tour title for Rodesch.

Rodesch was also a finalist in singles, his best-ever finish. He advanced through qualifying to earn a spot in the main draw. He fell 6-4, 6-3 in the final against No. 501 Gauthier Onclin on Belgium, snapping his streak of six-straight singles wins.
