Daniel Zimmerman - Women's Rowing - Virginia Cavaliers

Daniel Zimmerman was named a volunteer assistant coach with the Virginia rowing program in September of 2022.

Zimmerman joined UVA after serving the last three seasons as the head women’s coach with the Oakton High School Rowing Club. He was the program director at Oakton from 2021-22 and was also the associate women’s varsity rowing coach from 2018-19. Zimmerman led the Women’s Varsity Eight to a silver medal at the 2022 Virginia State Championship and seventh-place finish at Stotesbury. In 2019, Zimmerman helped Women’s Second Varsity Eight to a bronze medal and Third Varsity Eight to a gold medal at the Virginia State Championship.

Zimmerman also served as the assistant varsity women’s rowing coach at James Madison High School (2016-18) and Zimmerman spent nearly five years at Resilient Rowing Club (2014-19). At Resilient, Zimmerman was the assistant high performance men’s and women’s rowing coach from 2015-19 and head developmental men’s and women’s rowing coach in the summer of 2014.

Zimmerman was a four-year captain of the men’s rowing team from 2009-12 at the University of Mary Washington. He earned all-conference rowing honors in 2010 and 2011, and was named to the Mid-Atlantic All-Region team in 2011. Zimmerman earned conference championships in the Varsity Eight (2009) and Varsity Four (2009 and 2010). He earned his bachelor’s of science degree in computer science/CIS from Mary Washington in 2014.
