Peter Alston
Peter Alston joined the Virginia staff in 2018 as an assistant strength and conditioning coach. He works with the Cavalier men’s and women’s soccer teams and track (sprints) program. He designs annual training programs for those sports and coaches proper conditioning and strength training techniques.
Before accepting a full time job at Virginia, Alston spent one year as the Virginia men’s soccer performance manager. Concurrently, he worked at ADAPT as the director of sports performance from 2015 to 2018, developing and implementing long-term athletic development programs for youth and high school athletes.
Alston completed his master’s of education in exercise physiology at Virginia in 2014 and served as the men’s and women’s basketball strength and conditioning intern for two years.
Between stints in Charlottesville, Alston spent a year in Washington D.C., where he served as a physical preparation intern with D.C. United.Alston graduated from Washington and Lee with a bachelor’s degree in history and politics in 2012 and spent four years on the football team as a placekicker.
He is a National Strength & Conditioning Association Certified Strength & Conditioning Coach and FMS Level 1 certified in functional movement screening.
