Chase Gibson

Chase Gibson joined the Virginia Athletics Academic Affairs staff in August 2015. He serves as both the assistant director for learning services for football.

Gibson provides support to student-athletes through skill-building workshops, weekly meetings with student-athletes and his management of the department’s strategic tutoring (STAR) program. He also works closely with UVA’s Student Disability Access Center (SDAC) on academic accommodations for student athletes with learning or attention disabilities.

Prior to joining the staff at UVA, he was a learning specialist at South Carolina from 2013 to 2015.

Gibson earned both his bachelor’s (2011) and master’s degrees (2014) in criminology and criminal justice from South Carolina. While an undergraduate, he worked as a learning assistant for two years in the university’s athletic department.
