Erik Elvgren

Erik Elvgren is a senior producer and animator in the video services department. He is responsible for producing and animating the “Cavman” team entrance videos for the football and men’s and women’s basketball teams. He also directs live event coverage for Hoovision, and provides audiovisual engineering support for the athletics department.

Elvgren spent nine years as a senior producer at UVa’s School of Continuing Education and Professional Studies before joining the video services department. He was also a video conferencing specialist at the Naval Aviation Depot in Norfolk.

Elvgren has been cited numerous times for his professional skills. In 2007 he was named UVa’s Employee of the Year as well as the Athletics Department Employee of the Year. He has also been a Telly Award and Communicator Award recipient. In 2002 he was listed among the top 100 producers by AVVAMP magazine.

A native of Pittsburgh, Pa., he graduated from Grove City College in Grove City, Pa., in 1990 with a degree in communications, where he played football. He received a master’s degree in television production/media management from Regent University in 1992.

He and his wife, Jennifer, have three children, William, Elizabeth and Sophia. They live in Barboursville.
